Superbacana Mirror and Altar Installation

Superbacana carries a message of recognition, affirmation, and joyful resistance. Devotion begins in the everyday; the ordinary is already worthy of reverence. The mirror implicates the viewer directly, asking those who encounter it to see themselves as both witness and subject, held within a field of radiant color, texture, and reflection.

Drawing on Brazilian cultural references, the installation offers joy not as escapism but as a deliberate, resistant act—one that honors survival, pleasure, and self-recognition in the face of erasure. To the ancestors, it is an offering of gratitude and continuity; to the future, it transmits a reminder that the sacred is not distant or fixed, but something we build from what we have, and who we are, in the present.
